Debt – Sins that Christians overlook

There are a lot of sins that Christians overlook and one of those sins is about retribution.

Retribution means if you harm somebody then you have to pay the price of hurting somebody. If you owe anything to anybody then you have to pay it back. Otherwise it remains as iniquity before God.

So, many Christians believe the false gospel, so they believe that if you believe Jesus Christ, regardless of your actions
including paying back what you owe, you are saved by the grace of God.

But the true gospel is, you have to believe Jesus Christ and repent to be saved. So if you really repented then if you owe anything to anybody then you have to feel remorseful and you would want to pay back what you owe to anybody.

Some laws from the Old Testament still valid

If you look at the Old Testament in the Bible, you will find a lot of laws regarding the retribution and a lot of laws from the Old Testament, they are no longer valid because they are ceremonial laws, but a lot of laws including about retribution,
they are still valid today because they come from the heart of God.

So God never changes and the law from the heart of God never changes so it’s still valid today.

Mathew 5:25

There’s a verse about that in the New Testament. It’s in Matthew chapter 5 verse 25, “agree with your adversary quickly while you’re on the way with him lest your adversary deliver you to the judge, the judge hand you over to the
officer, and you will be thrown into prison. Assuredly I say to you, you will by no means get out of there till you have paid the last penny.

So this verse is about paying back what you owe. When I read this verse before, I used to think that maybe this verse is talking about going to jail in this world when you owe somebody, but what this verse is actually saying is about owing somebody including money and being judged by God. Going to the prison is actually about going to hell which is prison supposedly underground.

So it says here, “agree with your adversary quickly while you are on the way with him.” So if anybody owes money to anybody then he is on the way to the judgment because all the
people on the earth will be judged in the end of their lives and God will judge them according to what they have done.

And because God is a judge he will judge everybody, living or dead in the end.

So what this verse is actually saying is if you owe anybody any money then agree with your adversary quickly. So either that person forgives you of your debt or you have to pay back, otherwise you are on your way to the judgment and God will judge all the people.

And if he finds any iniquity then he will throw them into the prison which is hell, the underground prison.

So it says here, “assuredly I say to you, you will by no means
get out of there till you have paid the last penny.”

So what is this verse saying? After you go to hell and if you pay back then you can get out of hell? The verse
is not saying that. What the verse is saying is if you owe somebody money then you are on your way to the judgment in the end of your life. And you are in the fate of going to hell. It says here, “you will by no means get out of there”,
that means you will not get out of your fate of going to hell unless you pay the last penny.

So while you are still living, you have to settle your matters
before you stand before God to be judged. So to be saved to go to heaven, you have to repent and believe Jesus Christ. And if you really repented you have to pay back what you owe because God is a judge who settles all the iniquity between people.

Paying tax

So, many Christians now they operate business. And a lot of them might actually not pay all the taxes they owe to the government but the tax is what you owe to the government for living in the land, and for operating your business
in the land. So if you don’t pay your taxes then you owe that money to your
government.

Business dealings in cash

Likewise, a lot of people might do business dealings in cash because, customers, they don’t want to pay tax so they offer you to pay in cash, so that it doesn’t remain in your business record so you don’t have to pay tax. But if anybody does that then he or she owes money to the government. So unless they
pay all those money they owe to the government, they are in the fate of going to the prison.

If you owe a lot of money

But some people might be worried that because they’ve been
operating business for a long time and they owe a lot of money to the government. So they feel so burdened for all that debt and then they might feel it’s so hard to repent. But what I like to tell you is that if you really repent and want to serve God, then bring all your worries to God. So repent first to serve God and follow Jesus, and then bring all your worries to God and He will help you solve all the problems in your life. Because God is greater than any wealth in this world or any problems in this world that you might face.

And another thing is, there is nothing in this world that compares to the glory of God’s kingdom or avoiding the fate of going to hell. So although you might face a mountain of problems in this world like owing any money, but those problems don’t even compare to your eternal fate. What good is it to keep all the money you have or a house or business that you might have but forfeit your soul. So those things will not be forever. So nothing in this world compares to your eternal fate. So bring all your worries to God and He will help you.

what if I can’t the person

And also even if you repent and want to pay back, there might be some situations in which you cannot pay back because you cannot find the person. And after you try your best then if it’s not possible then you can pay back to God.

We have to get rid of all the mortgages right away? What about business loans?

And another thing I wanna talk about is, some people might say you cannot even have any debt like mortgages or business debt to the bank. Then if that’s the case then it’ll be hard for a lot of Christians to even start a business or to have a house. What you have to think is that actually, about the mortgages, those are debt you can pay back right away because you have the equity in your house. Likewise with business. So some people might burden you with things like, “oh you have to not have any debt in your life so you have to get rid of all your
mortgages and business loans” but I don’t think that’s the case. But, you have to be faithful to pay all your monthly installments for your mortgages and you have to keep your good credit. So I don’t think God will hold you accountable for
that kind of debt against your equity or businesses but you would have to pay everything you owe until the end of your lives but otherwise don’t have those mortgages unless you can pay it back till the end of your life.

Conclusion

So I talked about owing any money in this video and to sum it up you have to repent and believe Jesus Christ to be saved and if you really repented, if you owe anybody any money then you should feel remorse and you have to pay back. And that’s part of repentance.

So I wish you blessings so that you can repent and bring all your worries to God and God can help you with all your problems in your life. So that you can pay all your debt and you will have joy in your life in serving God, free from all the worries.

I wish you blessings from the Lord.
