Revelation Ch15, 16: 7 Trumpets and Bowls Judgments comparison and the Armageddon War

We’re gonna look at the 7 trumpets and 7 bowls judgments today and in the previous videos, we saw that in Revelation Ch6 and 7, we see the happenings just before the time of the ascension of Jesus through to the Great Tribulation and then we saw Jesus’ return and rapture and after that we see this 7 Trumpets Judgment and that was in the first section of the Revelation.

And in the second section of the Revelation in Ch 12, 13, and 14, we saw happenings from the time just before the birth of Jesus and through to the Great Tribulation and the rapture and Jesus’ return and after that we saw 7 bowls judgments. So both of these judgments, trumpets judgments and bowls judgments, they happen in the same point in time which is after Jesus’ return.

So these 7 trumpets judgments and 7 bowls judgments, they are one and the same. So I believe what will happen is that when 7 angels blow 7 trumpets, the bowls judgments will be poured out on to the earth. So they are the same judgments and we’re gonna look at how they match up with each other.

And if you see this table here, we can see that the characteristics of the judgments they are very similar.

The first trumpet judgment is about the earth and the bowl judgment is about the earth as well.

The second is sea and then it’s the sea for bowls judgment as well.

And the third one rivers and water springs and for the bowls, rivers and water springs as well.

The fourth is about the Sun, Moon, and the Stars, and for the bowls is the Sun.

And the fifth is for the people, plagues falling on the people.

So they are very similar.

So we’re gonna start with the first plague.

So this is the first trumpet judgment.

“The first angel blew his trumpet and there followed hail and fire mixed with blood and these were thrown upon the earth. And a third of the earth was burned up and a third of the trees were burned up and all green grass was burned up.”

So the first trumpet judgment is fiery judgment falling upon the earth.

And for the bowl judgment,

“So the first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth and harmful and painful sores came upon the people who bore the mark of the beast and worshiped its image”

So both of the plagues are something that falls on the earth.

And we see for the bowl judgment, harmful and painful sores coming upon the people. So the descriptions look a little different but as we saw, these are the one and the same judgments.

So we can interpret both of these plagues like this.

So when the first angel blows his trumpet, the first bowl judgment will be poured out on the earth and the hail and fire mixed with blood will be thrown down upon the earth and then harmful and painful sores will be sprung on the people, maybe it’s because of all the hail and fire and their skins were burned.

So that’s the first judgment and the second judgment, we see that

“The second angel blew his trumpet and something like a great mountain burning with fire was thrown into the sea and a third of the sea became blood. A third of the living creatures in the sea died and a third of the ships were destroyed.”

So a great mountain burning like fire was thrown into the sea and a third of the living creatures in the sea died.

And if you look at the bowl judgment,

“the second angel poured out his bowl into the sea and it became like the blood of a corpse and every living thing died that was in the sea”

So both of them are something that falls into the sea and harm the creatures.

But for the trumpet judgment, we see that a third of the living creatures in the sea died. And for the bowl judgment, we see every living thing died that was in the sea.

So I think what happened was that the Apostle John was shown this vision about the plagues at separate times.

So he was shown the angels blowing trumpet and the plagues falling down and he wrote it and then he was later shown again about the plagues in which the angels pour out plagues from the bowl. And when he was shown the trumpet judgment, he was shown that a third of the creatures in the sea died and when he was shown the bowl judgment, every living thing died in the sea. So he was shown in such a way that they look a little bit different for Go’d purpose.

So I explained before that one of God’s purposes of the Book of Revelation is so that many people will believe other doctrines like the post tribulation rapture because people are needed to work inside of the Great Tribulation.

If you noticed all the people who believe in the Post Tribulation Rapture, they are preparing to meet the Great Tribulation head on and to do great exploits in the Great Tribulation.

So because of that purpose, I think God made this Book of Revelation little bit confusing. So although we look at this same Book of Revelation, we get to have different doctrines about the end time.

So I think that was what happened so that Apostle John was shown about the second trumpet judgment and the second bowl judgment separately and he faithfully recorded them. And they look a little bit different but we know that they are one and the same.

So we’re gonna look at the third trumpet judgment.

So, “the third angel blew his trumpet and a great star fell from heaven blazing like a torch and it fell on a third of the rivers and on the springs of water. The name of the star is wormwood. A third of the waters became wormwood and many people died from the water because it had been made bitter.”

And for the third bowl judgment,

“Third angel poured out his bowl into the rivers and the springs of water and they became blood”

So both of them are plagues that fall on the rivers and springs of water. And people dying because the water is contaminated.

So once again it was written in such a way that they’re a little bit different. So maybe again the Apostle John was shown about this trumpet judgment and bowl judgment a little differently.

So when he saw the trumpet judgment, he saw the star falling on the river and river became bitter but for the bowl judgment, he saw that the river became blood. So we can interpret this third plague like this; So when the third angel blows his trumpet, the third angel will pour out his bowl into the rivers and the star that is wormwood will upon the river and it will be like blood and the water will become bitter and the people will die because they drink from the rivers.

So that’s the third plague.

And the fourth plague, for the trumpet,

“The fourth angel blew his trumpet and a third of the Sun was struck and a third of the Moon, and a third of the stars so that a third of their light might be darkened. And a third of the day might be kept from shining and likewise a third of the night.”

And for the bowl judgment,

“The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the Sun and it was allowed to scorch people with fire. They were scorched by the fierce heat and they cursed the name of God who had power over these plagues. They did not repent and give him glory.”

So they are both about the celestial objects like the Sun, Moon, and the stars and the bowl is about the Sun. And for the trumpet judgment, they become darkened and for the bowl judgment, the Sun will scorch the people with fierce heat.

So if you combine this, so I believe what will happen is that when the fourth angel blows his trumpet, the bowl judgment will be poured out and the Sun will become very intense and it will scorch the people and then the Sun and the Moon and the stars will maybe cool down and be darkened and maybe it will become very cold.

So that’s the fourth plague.

This is the fifth plague,

“And the fifth angel blew his trumpet and I saw a star fallen from heaven to earth and he was given a key to the shaft of the bottomless pit. He opened the shaft of the bottomless pit and from the shaft rose smoke like smoke of a great furnace and the Sun and the air were darkened with the smoke from the shaft. Then from the smoke came locusts on the earth and they were given power like the power of scorpions of the earth.”

So the trumpet judgment, the fifth trumpet judgment is about the locusts coming out of hell because the bottomless pit is hell. And then they torment the people.

And if you look at the bowl judgment,

“The fifth angel poured out his bowl on the throne of the beast and its kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in anguish and cursed the God of heaven for their pain and sores. They did not repent of their deeds.”

We see that the fifth plague is, when the fifth angel blows his trumpet, the fifth angel will pour out the bowl and the locusts will come out of hell to torment people and then because of the attack from the locusts they will have pain and sores and they will gnawed their tongues in pain. So that’s the fifth judgment. It’s something that fall upon the people.

If you look at it, from the first plague to the fourth plague, they are something that fall upon natures like earth, sea, celestial bodies and rivers. And from the fifth plagues, they are something that harm the people directly.

And at that time in the fifth plague, people will look for the ways to die but they cannot even die. They have to suffer and it’ll be very terrible torment.

The sixth plague is,

“Then the sixth angel blew his trumpet and I heard a voice from the four horns of the golden altar before God saying to the sixth angel who had the trumpet. Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates so the four angels who had been prepared for the hour, the day, the month, and the year were released to kill a third of mankind.”

So this is something that happens in the river Euphrates. The four angels and the mounted army will kill a third of mankind.

And if you look at the bowl judgment,

“The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates and its water was dried up to prepare the way for the kings from the east and I saw coming out of the mouth of the dragon and out of the mouth of the beast and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs to assemble them for battle on the great day of God the almighty. Behold I am coming like a thief. Blessed is the one who stays awake keeping his garments on that he may not go about naked and to be seen exposed. And they assembled them at the place that in Hebrew it’s called Armageddon”

So both of these plagues are something that happens in connection to Euphrates river and they are the famous Armageddon war.

And also in the third section of the Book of Revelation in chapter 19, we see this descent of Jesus on the earth on a white horse. And he descends on a white horse with an army to kill many people with the sword coming out of his mouth. And I believe that this Jesus’ descent on the earth on a white horse and the sixth plague, they are the same thing. And they all talk about the Armageddon war.

How do we know that? Because if we see the seventh plague for the trumpet judgment, we read that “the kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ and he shall reign for ever and ever.”

So when the trumpet judgments are ended, the kingdom of the world will become the kingdom of our Lord because Jesus will descent on the white horse on the earth and he will start the thousand years kingdom. So this world will become his kingdom, Jesus’ kingdom. That’s why after the seventh trumpet judgment this world will become Jesus’ thousand years kingdom.

If we see the seventh bowl judgment, we see the same happenings like seven trumpet judgment like great earthquake and the great city was split into 3 parts and the cities of the nations fell and we can see that sort of closure of all the nations. And we know that these two plagues are one and the same thing so it’s not like after all the seven plagues in which so many people are killed and then Jesus descends on a white horse on the earth to kill many people again. It’s not like that because with the seventh plagues, seventh trumpet and bowl judgment, all the judgment of God is ended. And the thousand years kingdom will begin.

So we can see that this revelation chapter 19 which talks about Jesus’ descent on the white horse is in another section of the Book of Revelation.

So this chapter 19 is another instance of the same event which is the Armageddon War.

So if we combine all these things, like the sixth trumpet judgment and the sixth bowl judgment and Jesus’ descent on a white horse, we can know what will happen in the Armageddon War.

So what will happen is, when the sixth angel blows his trumpet, the sixth angel will pour out his bowl and the great river Euphrates will be dried up so that the kings from the east will march toward Jerusalem. Because at that time Jesus will descend on a white horse with his army to Jerusalem because Jerusalem will be the capital city of the thousand years kingdom.

So after Jesus descends on Jerusalem, the Antichrist and the False Prophet will gather their army, all the kings of the earth and they will march through the Euphrates river toward Jerusalem. And the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates will be released and the mounted troops which are numbered at 10,000 times 10,000 which is two hundred million mounted troops, and they will kill a third of mankind.

So in one side Jesus and his mounted troops who wear breastplates with color of fire and sapphire and sulfur and other riders on the white horse who are wearing white robes.

We see here, “and the armies of heaven arrayed fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. And they will be stationed in Jerusalem and the Antichrist and the False Prophet and the kings and their armies will be on the other side, and they will march toward Jerusalem and they will fight in the place called Armageddon.

So in that war Jesus will strike the Antichrist army with the sword coming out of his mouth and all the mounted troops and Jesus’ army on the white horses, all together they will destroy a third of the mankind in the Armageddon War.

And in that war, “the beast was captured and with it the False Prophet who in its presence had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who worshiped its image. These two were thrown alive into the Lake of Fire that burns with sulfur.”

So in that war, the beast which is the Antichrist and the False Prophet will be captured and they will be thrown into the Lake of Fire.

So that is the Armageddon War and that is the sixth plague and we’re gonna go onto the seventh plague.

“Then the seventh angel blew his trumpet and there were loud voices in heaven saying the kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ and he shall reign for ever and ever. And the twenty four elders who sit on their thrones before God fell on their faces and worshiped God saying we give thanks to you Lord God almighty.”

Verse 19, “Then God’s temple in heaven was open and the ark of his covenant was seen with his temple. There were flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder and earthquake and heavy hail.”

And for the bowl judgment, “The seventh angel poured out his bowl into the air and a loud voice came out of the temple from the throne saying it is done and there were flashes of lightning, rumblings, peals of thunder and great earthquakes such as there had never been since man was on the earth. So great was that earthquake. And great hailstones of about one hundred pounds each fell from heaven on the people and they cursed God for the plague of the hail because the plague was so severe.”

So with this seventh plague, all of God’s judgments will be concluded and if you look at it they are exactly the same.

If you look at the table here, the seventh trumpet judgment is about the temple, lightning, rumblings, thunder, earthquake and hail. And for the seventh bowl judgment, temple, lightning, rumblings, thunder, earthquake, hail. So exactly the same happenings for both of the plagues.

And we can see that all of God’s judgments are concluded; it says here, “It is done!”.

If we look at the seventh trumpet judgment, “the kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Christ” because with this seventh judgment all the judgments of God will be ended and Jesus’ Thousand Years Kingdom will begin.

So we can see that the seventh trumpet judgment and the seventh bowl judgment, they are one and the same.

And if you look at here, for the fifth trumpet judgment, we can read, “they were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any green plant or any tree but only those people who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads”.

So because of this verse, the Post Tribulation Rapture believers say for this verse to be true, all the people who do not have the seal of God and those who have the seal of God, they will be both on the earth. That’s why it says, “harm only those people who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads”.

But I think this verse was put in here so that many people will believe the post tribulation rapture. But what I’ve been telling you which is the Pre Wrath Rapture is true, if that is true, still this verse is valid because even if the fifth trumpet judgment falls upon all the people on the earth at that time, still only those people who do not have the seal of God will be affected because all the people on the earth will not have the seal of God.

So this verse is still valid. So it’s like a word play. It looks as if those who do not have the seal of God and those who have the seal of God will be on the earth, but it’s not the case.

And we see another verse like that here. In the sixth bowl judgment, “Behold I am coming like thief. Blessed is the one who stays awake keeping his garments on that he may not go about naked and be seen exposed.”

So because this verse is here, post tribulation rapture believers might believe that Jesus’ return happens at the sixth bowl judgment. But I believe this verse was put in here so that some people will be confused to believe the post tribulation rapture.

If you think about it, a lot of people find this Book of Revelation very confusing. And it looks like it’s all mixed up. So it was written that way for God’s purpose because different kind of people will be needed inside the Great Tribulation. God accomplishes all his purposes through this bible.

So we looked at seven trumpet judgments and seven bowls judgments and we saw how closely they match up and we saw that they are one and the same. In the next video, we will look at Revelation Ch17 and 18 and we’re gonna study about the harlot and the scarlet beast and what will happen to the great city Babylon.
